We experienced many hiccups along the road, none of which could be attributed to her but to the process of buying a co-op in NYC, which is tedious, arbitrary, frustrating, and often nonsensical. (For other first-time buyers - prepare yourself. The process can be arduous and it’s likely you’ll want to give up!) The complications we experienced actually revealed what is truly special about Lauren as a broker - she is indefatigable. That is, she will Get. The. Job. Done. And she’ll do it in her stilettos with a smile on her face. I didn’t think I would have had the stamina to continue revising the board package when things got messy, but Lauren remained positive, responsive to my concerns, and straightforward with her opinions on price, how much to push versus lay low, etc. Plus, I knew she was calling, emailing, and even seeking people out in person in order to obtain information that would make my package stronger. When situations arose to which Lauren didn’t know the answers, she leveraged her extensive network of contacts to find the answers, cross-referencing everything with her own research. In sum, Lauren showed herself to be resourceful, diligent, and unafraid to be (politely) aggressive. The outcome was that I ended up with a board approval at the price I wanted. With Lauren as my broker, I felt as though I had a true partner by my side. This peace of mind is worth every penny of the broker fee (which FYI, the seller pays). Finally, our work together produced an unexpected but highly meaningful result - I now consider Lauren to be a dear friend!
